Villa Mirabello stands as a palatial residence within the Giardini Estensi complex, offering views of Lake Varese and the Alps range.
Count Gaetano Stampa di Soncino constructed the villa during the 18th century, with subsequent modifications in 1839 including the addition of stables.
The Archaeological Museum inside Villa Mirabello displays artifacts from prehistoric settlements, including items from UNESCO-listed pile-dwelling sites near Lake Varese.
The museum opens Tuesday through Wednesday from 9:30 to 12:30, and Thursday through Sunday from 9:30 to 12:30 and 14:00 to 18:00.
The museum exhibits one of the earliest writing examples from the region, including a ceramic cup from Sesto Calende and a funeral stele from Vergiate.
