Tribune of Galileo, Scientific museum in Florence, Italy
The Tribune of Galileo occupies a monumental space on the first floor of La Specola Museum, featuring a central room with a cross vault and an entrance covered by a glass dome.
Architect Giuseppe Martelli designed this space, which opened in 1841 during the Third Congress of Italian Scientists under Grand Duke Leopold II of Lorraine.
The walls display marble panels, scientific instrument reliefs, and frescoes depicting Leonardo da Vinci and Galileo's experiments, including the demonstration of falling objects.
The Tribune contains numerous scientific instruments from the Medici collection, including two telescopes and the objective lens Galileo used to discover Jupiter's moons.
The central exedra features a statue of Galileo surrounded by busts of his students, while the entrance hall exhibits eighteenth-century anatomical wax models.
