Castello di Giove, Medieval castle in Giove, Italy

The stone fortress stands atop a hill at 627 meters elevation, marking the boundary between former territories of Orvieto and Perugia.

The Bulgarelli family constructed Castello di Giove in 1191 on the foundations of an ancient temple dedicated to Jupiter Elicius.

The castle includes a chapel where Blessed Angelina Marsciano, founder of a Franciscan community for nuns, was born in 1377.

Visitors can reserve guided tours that include wine tastings with local products in the castle's 16th-century cellars.

The estate maintains 1200 hectares of land containing truffle reserves where both scorzone and uncinato species grow naturally.
