Rifugio Rino Olmo, Mountain hut in Castione della Presolana, Italy
Rifugio Rino Olmo is a mountain hut situated at 1819 meters elevation below Olone Pass, offering direct views of the Presolana range in the Orobie Alps. The building provides 20 beds for overnight guests and serves as a base for hikers exploring this alpine region.
The building opened in 1991 after restoring an earlier mountain structure called Baita di Olone. It received the name of Rino Olmo, who established the Clusone Alpine Club section.
The shelter keeps alive mountain traditions by serving regional specialties and homemade dishes from the Lombardy Alps. The kitchen shows how mountain communities use local ingredients to create meals that have been made here for generations.
The site is best visited during dry weather, as mountain trails become difficult to navigate when it rains. Visitors should bring sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing to stay safe and comfortable on the slopes.
The property includes an outdoor climbing wall where visitors can practice climbing skills at different levels. Animals are not permitted inside the building to keep the space clean for all mountain visitors.
