Cathedral of Monte Cassino, Minor basilica in Cassino, Italy

The Cathedral of Monte Cassino stands atop a rocky hill at 520 meters elevation, featuring Neapolitan Baroque architecture and extensive marble decorations.

The basilica was reconstructed after World War II damage and consecrated by Pope Paul VI on October 24, 1964, following its original architectural plans.

The cathedral houses the tombs of Saint Benedict and Saint Scholastica beneath its high altar, marked by a bronze urn containing their remains.

Visitors can access the cathedral daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM in winter and until 7:00 PM during summer, with modified hours during religious services.

The entrance displays bronze doors from the 11th century manufactured in Constantinople, leading to a medieval cloister with an ancient Roman well.
