Palazzo Caetani, Renaissance palace in Sant'Angelo district, Rome, Italy

The three-level palace features an elegant stone facade along Via delle Botteghe Oscure with architectural elements characteristic of 16th century Roman design.

Alessandro Mattei commissioned architect Nanni di Baccio Bigio to construct this palace between 1545 and 1564, before the Caetani family acquired it in 1776.

The piano nobile contains frescoes by Taddeo and Federico Zuccari, including scenes from Alexander the Great's life and detailed landscape compositions.

The Brazilian Embassy to the Vatican occupies part of the building, while the Fondazione Camillo Caetani maintains a research library within its walls.

Caravaggio created his masterwork 'The Taking of Christ' during his stay at the palace in 1602, contributing to its artistic legacy.
