Temple of Jupiter Stator, Ancient Roman temple in Forum Romanum, Italy
The Temple of Jupiter Stator features Corinthian columns and stands near the Arch of Titus in the Roman Forum complex.
The temple dates back to 750 BCE when Romulus constructed it following his victory against the Sabines in a critical battle.
The temple served as a meeting place for the Roman Senate, where Cicero delivered his famous speeches against Catiline in 63 BCE.
Visitors can view the temple foundations on the southern side of the Arch of Titus during regular Forum Romanum opening hours.
The temple name 'Stator' refers to Jupiter's power to stop Roman soldiers from fleeing during battles, as demonstrated in the Sabine conflict.
