Convento di Sant'Angelo, Medieval convent in Ocre, Italy

The Sant'Angelo convent stands on a rock formation of Monte Circolo, positioned above the Santa Maria ad Cryptas church in Fossa.

Built in 1409 for Benedictine nuns, the convent was transferred to the Franciscan order by Pope Sixtus IV in 1480 and remained active until 2009.

The cloister features 23 tempera-painted lunettes from the 17th century depicting scenes from the life of Saint Anthony of Padua.

The convent remains closed due to damage from the 2009 L'Aquila earthquake and requires extensive restoration work to ensure visitor safety.

The refectory contains a 16th-century fresco of the Last Supper and preserves the remains of Blessed Bernardino da Fossa since 1516.
