Villa degli Armeni, Venetian villa in Asolo, Italy
Villa degli Armeni is a Venetian country house on the Colle Messano hill with two connected buildings. The north-facing facade is visible from the San Caterina district and shapes the appearance of the hillside.
The Surian family built this country house for themselves in 1558. Later it passed to the Contarini family and then changed hands several times among Venetian noble families.
The southern facade displays biblical frescoes by Lattanzio Gambara, a painter from Brescia who demonstrated his skill while the villa was being built. These artworks make the artistic quality of the house directly visible to visitors today.
The country house is accessible only on foot as there is no vehicle entrance. Visitors reach the building through a gallery that runs through the hill.
The ground level features five round arches, and at the center stands a single-lancet window with a balcony. These architectural details point to an unusually tall central hall inside.
