Tempietto Barbaro

Tempietto Barbaro is a small chapel with a circular floor plan located within the grounds of Villa di Maser in the Veneto region. The building features slender columns at its entrance and decorative stone carvings along the upper cornice.

The structure was completed in the late 1500s as one of the final works of a renowned Italian architect. It formed part of a major rural estate designed for a wealthy family during the Renaissance.

The temple reflects how Renaissance architects looked back to ancient building methods while creating spaces for worship. Its round shape and classical details show the ideas that shaped religious buildings during this period.

Access is through the villa grounds, which are open to visitors during posted hours. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended since paths cross both paved areas and open lawns.

The interior floor is paved with river pebbles arranged in striking black and white geometric patterns. This detail reveals the craftsmanship applied to every element of the design.
