Madonna della Rocca

Madonna della Rocca is a sanctuary set on a hilltop approximately 349 meters (1,145 feet) above sea level, positioned northwest of Cornuda. The chapel sits prominently on the landscape of Treviso province and provides expansive views across the surrounding terrain from its elevated location.

The site traces its origins to 1245, when a papal document confirmed the existence of a small church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It later replaced a demolished fortress and evolved into a significant pilgrimage destination for the local region.

The shrine serves as a gathering place where pilgrims and locals come together for daily worship and prayer. It functions as a spiritual center that bonds several parishes in the surrounding area through shared religious practice.

Access to the sanctuary is available throughout the day via foot paths leading up the hillside. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear, as the climb to reach the chapel requires physical effort and can be steep in sections.

A centuries-old oak tree, whose roots were believed to trace back to the Holy Land, stood for generations near the sanctuary. The tree fell in May 2008, but remains part of the site's local memory and heritage.
