Castello di Quirra, Medieval castle in Villaputzu, Italy.

The defensive fortress stands on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Villaputzu, featuring extensive walls, towers, and two water storage systems.

Constructed in the 12th century by Cagliari judges, the castle marked the boundary with Gallura region before passing to Pisans and the Crown of Aragon.

The castle represents a testament to medieval Sardinian military architecture and served as the center of the Marchesato d'Ogliastra during Spanish rule.

The castle holds tales of Violante Carroz, known as 'the bloodthirsty,' who reportedly hid a golden loom in nearby caves that remains undiscovered.
