Pranu Muttedu is an archaeological site near Goni containing about sixty megalithic tombs and standing stones scattered across a wooded area. The structures date from the Neolithic period and show different construction phases in their design.
The site emerged between 3200 and 2600 BCE and was used and modified by different peoples over several centuries. Later Nuragic cultures also left traces at this location.
The burial grounds at Pranu Muttedu reveal how ancient communities honored their dead and the central role of collective ceremonies in their society. The careful placement of stones and tombs shows a deep spiritual connection to the landscape.
The site is easy to reach and can be explored on foot, with plenty of space to walk among the stones. Visitors should bring proper footwear and sun protection, especially during warmer months.
This site holds the highest concentration of standing stones in Sardinia and offers a rare view into the region's megalithic culture. Some stones have been in their positions for more than 5000 years.
