San Cristoforo alla Certosa, Renaissance church and religious museum in Ferrara, Italy
The San Cristoforo alla Certosa features a Latin cross layout with six lateral chapels and a marble portal designed by Gaetano Barbieri.
Duke Borso d'Este commissioned the construction of the Carthusian monastery in 1452, while architect Biagio Rossetti designed the current church structure in 1498.
The church houses numerous religious artifacts, including paintings depicting the Passion of Christ and works by artists Bastianino and Nicolò Roselli.
Visitors can access the church from 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM in summer and until 4:45 PM in winter, with free admission and wheelchair accessibility.
Following Napoleonic suppression in the late 1700s, the complex transformed from a monastery into a public cemetery while maintaining its religious functions.
