Delizia di Belfiore, Renaissance palace in Ferrara, Italy.
Delizia di Belfiore was a Renaissance palace featuring decorated rooms and distinct architectural elements of the era. The building stood near the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli with elaborate interior spaces designed for the Este family.
Leonello d'Este commissioned the construction in 1447, and his brother Borso d'Este completed it around 1463. Venetian forces damaged the structure in 1483, and a fire in 1683 destroyed it completely.
The Studiolo within the palace contained a collection of paintings depicting muses, reflecting the Renaissance focus on classical mythology.
The palace exists today only in historical records and archival documents since the original structure no longer stands. Visitors can explore the location and imagine how this important site looked through available historical sources.
A Renaissance dancer named Domenico da Piacenza created a three-person dance called Belfiore in honor of this palace. The dance was an artistic tribute to the Este court and its role as a center of arts and culture.
