Villa Del Bene, Renaissance villa and religious museum in Dolcè, Italy.
Villa Del Bene is a Renaissance residence in Dolcè featuring multiple courtyards, including the Courtyard of the Well and a Sunday courtyard that opens through a sixteenth-century gateway. The building combines living spaces with a chapel and shows how wealthy Venetian families arranged their country retreat.
The building was created in the 15th century when a portico and loggia were added to its design. Major renovations in the 18th century updated and changed its appearance.
The walls inside are decorated with paintings showing biblical scenes and pagan myths that tell stories of faith and classical culture. These decorations reflect what mattered to the families who lived here during the Renaissance.
This house sits on land that follows the path of an ancient Roman road, giving visitors a sense of place along a very old route. Wear comfortable shoes as you will walk through multiple courtyards and rooms.
This is the oldest known weekend retreat built by Venetian families in the Verona region and it has always stood along this ancient Roman road. This connection between distant history and your visit creates a special quality to the place.
