Capo Murro di Porco lighthouse

The lighthouse features a concrete decagonal tower reaching 20 meters in height with a balcony and lantern attached to a single-story keeper's house.

Built in 1859 under the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, this maritime structure continues to guide vessels through the waters of the Ionian Sea.

The lighthouse stands as a representation of Italian maritime architecture from the 19th century, with its white masonry structure against the Mediterranean backdrop.

The automated lighthouse emits one white flash every five seconds, visible from a distance of 17 nautical miles across the Ionian Sea waters.

In December 2020, the lighthouse gained international recognition when NASA selected a photograph featuring it with the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction as Photo of the Day.
