Bivacco Città di Clusone, Mountain refuge in Castione della Presolana, Italy.
Bivacco Città di Clusone is a small mountain shelter located at 2050 meters elevation on the southern slope of Presolana massif. The wooden structure with metal cladding contains five beds and a table, powered by solar panels for LED lighting.
The current shelter was built in 2015, replacing a previous structure from 1968 that commemorated seven people who died in an avalanche accident. The memory of this tragedy remains part of the site's history.
The shelter serves as a strategic high-altitude base for Alpine rescue operations in the Bergamo Orobie mountains, equipped with an emergency radio system.
Visitors need to bring their own sleeping bags and supplies as the shelter provides no blankets, pillows, or cooking facilities. Proper preparation ensures a comfortable and safe stay at this high-altitude location.
The shelter stands along a 10.1-kilometer trail from Presolana Pass, requiring an elevation gain of 880 meters through dense pine forests and historical World War II sites.
