Spiaggia di Capriccioli, Sandy beach in Costa Smeralda, Sardinia, Italy.
Spiaggia di Capriccioli is a sandy beach on the Costa Smeralda in northeastern Sardinia, divided into two separate coves by granite rock formations. Both sections sit close together and can be reached on foot, each offering shallow, clear water suitable for swimming.
The area around Capriccioli was largely untouched until the 1960s, when the Costa Smeralda was developed as a tourist destination through a major private investment project. Roads and basic infrastructure came with that development, opening the beach to outside visitors for the first time.
Capriccioli draws local families who return here summer after summer, giving the place a relaxed and familiar feel. Compared to other beaches along the Costa Smeralda, it tends to feel more lived-in and less resort-like.
July and August are the busiest months, so arriving early in the morning makes it easier to find a spot on the sand and a parking space nearby. Shade rentals and basic food and drink stands are available on site, so there is no need to bring everything with you.
Mediterranean pine and juniper grow right at the edge of the sand, offering natural shade that many visitors prefer over rented umbrellas. This strip of trees tends to stay noticeably cooler at midday and is a good option for those who want to rest out of direct sun.
