Spiaggia di Frontone is a sandy beach on Ponza Island featuring golden sand mixed with pebbles closer to the water's edge. Steep rocky cliffs enclose the cove and drop directly into the sea, creating a naturally sheltered bay.

Ponza Island served as a maritime outpost for the Romans, who used its sheltered waters as a supply point for their fleets. The coastline became an important hub in ancient sea trade routes crossing the Mediterranean.

The beach holds significance as a gathering point where locals and visitors share the same stretch of sand, creating a relaxed social space typical of Mediterranean coastal life. People naturally drift between swimming, reading, and watching the water throughout the day.

To reach this beach, visitors take a boat taxi from Ponza Port in about 10 minutes. A walking path exists but involves steep scrambling over rocks, so most people prefer the water route for comfort and safety.

At the northern end of the beach sits a natural rock pool carved into the cliff face, functioning like a sheltered swimming basin within the rocks themselves. This quieter water attracts swimmers seeking refuge from the open Mediterranean.
