Spiaggia di Lignano Pineta, Sandy beach in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy
Spiaggia di Lignano Pineta is a wide sandy beach along the Adriatic coast with fine golden sand and gradually sloping water depth throughout the shoreline. The beach extends for several kilometers with different sections marked by European country flags for visitor orientation.
Development of this beach began in 1953 when entrepreneurs designed the area following Marcello D'Olivo's spiral urban plan for the coastal settlement. This planning concept shaped the overall structure of the modern resort town.
The beach hosts summer events ranging from sports competitions to evening performances and the traditional Incendio del Mare fireworks, drawing crowds throughout the season.
Seven beach kiosks along the shore offer rental services for umbrellas and loungers, with staff available to provide assistance and information. Wear shoes on hot days as the sand can get very warm.
The Pontile a Mare is a long wooden pier extending into the sea that serves as an observation point and meeting spot for visitors. From this vantage point, you can see the full breadth of beach activity below.
