Spiaggia di Porto Frailis

Porto Frailis is a sandy beach located in Tortolì on Sardinia's eastern coast, bordered by granite cliffs that form a protected natural cove. The waters here are shallow and clear, creating an enclosed bay that offers good shelter from rough seas.

The beach takes its name from a Spanish merchant vessel called Fragata Mercedes that sank in these waters during the 18th century. This maritime event became part of the local history and shaped the name of this coastal location.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors come together during the summer months. People here enjoy traditional water activities and swimming, reflecting how coastal communities in Sardinia use their beaches.

The beach has lifeguards on duty, bathroom facilities, and boat rentals available for visitors. The shallow waters and gentle slope make it easy to enter the sea, and the protected cove keeps conditions relatively calm most days.

The sandy seabed slopes down so gradually that you can walk far out into the water while it remains waist-deep for quite a distance. This gentle underwater topography makes it one of the safer places along the coast for families with young children and older swimmers.
