Perda Longa di Baunei

Perda Longa is a limestone tower rising about 128 meters above the sea near Baunei. It consists of three separate sections with a prominent central peak that dominates its silhouette.

Maritime maps from the 18th century referred to the formation as L'Aguila, while later cartography recorded different names. The changing names reflect its importance to seafarers navigating the coast.

The name Perda Longa follows the Sardinian tradition of naming natural rock formations based on their appearance. Local people and visitors immediately recognize the tower as a defining feature of the coastline.

A paved road branches off from the main coastal highway and leads to a parking area with food services nearby. The drive takes a few minutes from the nearby settlements along the coast.

The limestone tower continues to be reshaped by ocean waves and underground water processes, so its appearance gradually changes. Visitors witness an active geological process that slowly transforms the three sections over time.
