Spiaggia di Porto Giunco lies on the south-eastern coast of Sardinia, in the territory of Villasimius, about 400 km from Rome. The beach is a stretch of pale sand facing the sea, with dunes and Mediterranean scrub behind it. The surrounding land belongs to the Provincia di Cagliari, in the Sardegna region.

The area derives its name from an ancient port facility used by local fishermen, featuring a historic 19th-century watchtower built to defend the coastline from pirate raids and maritime invasions.

The beach borders the Notteri lagoon, a shallow brackish basin separated from the sea by a sandbar. The lagoon lies on the route of migrating birds between Africa and Europe, and flamingos are among the species that stop there. The surrounding dunes and wetland are part of the Capo Carbonara protected marine area, established in 1998.

The beach lies in the Villasimius area of south-eastern Sardinia, about 400 km from Rome, and is reached by road from the town. The climate is mild: average temperatures run from about 10 °C in February to 26 °C in July, with roughly 800 mm of rain a year, most of it between October and December. Come outside the wettest months for drier sand.
