Teatro Comunale, Theatre in Piazza Duomo, Atri, Italy

The Teatro Comunale features a neoclassical facade divided into Doric and Ionic orders, topped with a triangular pediment facing the cathedral.

The theatre officially opened on April 25, 1881, with a performance of Un Ballo in Maschera by Giuseppe Verdi, attracting 700 people.

The ceiling displays a painting by Giustino Di Giacomo depicting a blue sky where Euterpe rises among cherubs in rosy light.

The theatre contains three rows of boxes totaling 38 spaces and a gallery, providing seating for up to 200 spectators during performances.

During World War II, the Teatro Comunale served as a dormitory for English troops before returning to its theatrical functions.
