Chiesa di San Lorenzo Martire, Neoclassical religious building in Pescantina, Italy

The Chiesa di San Lorenzo Martire is a neoclassical religious building in Pescantina with a clear, symmetrical interior structure. Inside, three naves are divided by columns and pillars, with six side chapels distributed evenly throughout the space.

The church was built in the mid-18th century to replace an earlier Romanesque structure, with architect Luigi Trezza overseeing the design. The bell tower was constructed between 1573 and 1773 following Giuseppe Barbieri's design, and was later enlarged during the 19th century.

The church remains a central place for worship and community gatherings in Pescantina, where the local people meet regularly throughout the year. It serves as the spiritual and social heart of the town.

The bell tower stands approximately 80 meters (262 feet) tall and holds twelve bells cast by the Cavadini foundry of Verona. Keep in mind this is an active place of worship, so visitors should respect the peaceful environment and any services in progress.

The Cavadini foundry of Verona was renowned in the 18th century for producing high-quality bells, and twelve of their masterfully cast bells still hang in the church today. This collection is a rare surviving example of bell-making craftsmanship from that period that remains intact.
