Mausoleo di Lucio Munazio Planco

The circular mausoleum measures 29.54 meters in diameter and stands 9 meters tall, featuring four vaulted chambers arranged according to cardinal directions.

Built around 22 BCE, the funerary monument honors Lucius Munatius Plancus, who served as consul, censor, and commander during the Roman Republic period.

The dedication inscription above the entrance lists the civil and military roles of Plancus, reflecting the Roman practice of commemorating important figures.

The monument contains an antiquarium displaying artifacts from different historical periods, with the main chamber housing a replica of Plancus' original statue.

The structure maintains its perfect circular shape and includes a corridor that connects four separate chambers, each oriented toward different cardinal points.
