Polo del '900, Cultural center in central Turin, Italy
Polo del '900 is a cultural center in Turin occupying two historic palaces and functioning as a hub for collecting and sharing knowledge about twentieth-century history. The facility brings together extensive collections with exhibition spaces and offers educational and research programs.
The institution was founded in 2016 through the merger of 26 partner organizations to gather and share knowledge about Italy's twentieth-century history. This network built upon existing archives and collections to create a comprehensive repository of documented materials.
The center reflects Turin's commitment to preserving stories tied to freedom, labor, and citizen participation in the twentieth century. Visitors can see how these themes come alive through the exhibitions and collections on display.
The center offers accessible facilities for visitors with disabilities and dedicated spaces for children and families, making visits comfortable for different groups. Clear signage helps with orientation, and visitors should plan time to explore the various exhibition areas.
A striking feature is the collection of roughly nine kilometers of documented materials, offering a rare abundance of sources under one roof. The center also houses the Museum of Resistance, Deportation, War, Rights, and Freedom, which explores these critical subjects in depth.
