The Santi Agostino e Monica Church features travertine facades and stands as a prominent religious structure in the Varese province of Lombardy.
Cardinal Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster initiated the construction of this church in 1937, with architect Cornelio Bregonzio completing the project in 1938.
The church contains ceiling frescoes with quotes from Saint Augustine's writings, reflecting the deep connection between the saint and the local territory.
The interior underwent decorative enhancements between 1968 and 1971, and a new baptistery with mosaics by artist Marko Ivan Rupnik was added in 2015.
Scholars have studied the potential link between Casciago and Cassiciacum, where Saint Augustine spent time in meditation during his spiritual journey.
