Ponte Adriatico, Cable-stayed bridge in Bari, Italy
Ponte Adriatico is a cable-stayed bridge stretching 626 meters across Bari with a central tower rising 78 meters high. The structure has two vehicle lanes and separate pedestrian walkways running along its length.
The bridge opened in December 2016 as a major infrastructure project addressing transportation needs in the city. It connected previously separated areas and improved how traffic flows across the region.
The tower glows in white and red at night, colors connected to Bari's identity, making it a visual marker across the city. This lighting has become part of how locals and visitors perceive the waterfront.
The bridge is accessible on foot with wide pedestrian paths offering safe passage and good views of the surroundings. You can cross at any time of day, though the lighting is most visible after sunset.
Beneath the bridge sits one of Italy's largest covered recreational spaces featuring a skate park and two basketball courts. These sports facilities are tucked into the space under the cable spans.
