Zattere "A"

Zattere A is a ferry dock in Dorsoduro along the Giudecca Canal with two platforms for water buses and a separate pontoon for airport boats. This setup allows multiple boat lines to operate simultaneously and provides direct access to several neighborhoods across the city.

This location began in 1519 as a landing dock for timber deliveries used in Venetian shipbuilding and construction. Over the centuries, it transformed from a cargo point for wood into a modern transportation hub serving the city's daily mobility needs.

The station connects travelers to nearby Santa Maria del Rosario church, which houses Tiepolo frescoes, and to the Accademia's art collections. Walking along the waterfront here shows how locals and visitors naturally move between the city's main cultural destinations each day.

Tickets are sold at machines near the platforms or at the adjacent newsstand, and it helps to plan ahead since some routes get crowded during peak times. The location sits on an open waterfront, so expect limited shelter during rain or strong wind.

A dedicated pier here offers direct boat service to Marco Polo Airport through a special express line, located near the Gesuati Church. This direct connection saves travelers time and eliminates the need for multiple transfers that other arrival routes would require.
