Palazzo Brandolin Rota, Palace in Dorsoduro district, Venice, Italy.
Palazzo Brandolin Rota is a three-story palace facing the Grand Canal with a symmetrical facade marked by nine round-headed openings across its levels. Water access is provided through a distinctive central rounded portal designed for traditional Venetian boats.
The building was constructed in the 17th century originally with two floors and was expanded to its current three-story form during renovations in the mid-18th century. These changes reflected the evolving needs of wealthy families living on the lagoon.
During the 19th century, the palace transformed into Hotel Allbergo dell'Universo and became a residence for soprano Toti Dal Monte and poet Robert Browning.
The palace is located between the Gallerie dell'Accademia and Palazzo Contarini Polignac in the Dorsoduro district. Viewing it from the water provides the best perspective of its distinctive facade and water entrance.
The palace displays distinctive pentaforas on both noble floors - five-part window groupings typical of Venetian Gothic style. These decorative features create a specific visual rhythm along the facade that many passersby do not notice.
