Ponte dell'Accademia, Wooden footbridge in Venice, Italy
The Accademia Bridge stretches 48 meters across the Grand Canal, connecting the districts of Dorsoduro and San Marco through a curved wooden structure.
Engineer Eugenio Miozzi constructed the current wooden bridge in 1933, replacing an iron structure that had stood in the same location since 1854.
The bridge takes its name from the adjacent Galleria dell'Accademia, a museum housing an extensive collection of Venetian paintings from the 14th to 18th centuries.
Visitors can reach the bridge using water bus lines 1, 2, and N, stopping at the Accademia station on either side of the Grand Canal.
This wooden bridge remains a temporary structure that became permanent, making it one of four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice.
