Castello di Torricella, Medieval castle in Ventoso, Italy.

Castello di Torricella is a fortified residence in Scandiano featuring a three-story tower crowned with Ghibelline crenellations. The structure displays deep grooves marking the former drawbridge mechanism and multiple entrance portals across its stone walls.

The Da Fogliano family constructed the initial fortress after 1335, and it subsequently passed to the Boiardo family who transformed it into a summer retreat. This shift marked a transition from purely defensive purposes to residential use.

Italian poet Matteo Maria Boiardo composed sections of his poem Orlando Innamorato within the castle walls during the 15th century.

Reaching the castle involves taking the A1 motorway to the Reggio Emilia exit, then following the SS467 ringroad toward Scandiano-Sassuolo. The route leads directly to the municipality where the property stands.

Architect Cesare Costa oversaw extensive restoration work in 1864 that preserved medieval features while introducing contemporary architectural additions. This intervention significantly shaped the castle's present-day appearance.
