Minoh

Minoh is a residential city in northwestern Osaka Prefecture, nestled between forested hills and urban development. The city combines quiet residential neighborhoods with access to natural hiking trails and a national park to the north.

The settlement officially received town status in 1948 and expanded eight years later through union with a neighboring village. This merger laid the foundation for the current administrative structure and spatial extent.

The Buddhist temple displays hundreds of red-painted Daruma figures that visitors place for luck and perseverance. These votive offerings stack along pathways and give the place a very personal character.

The rail connection from central Osaka runs directly here and takes about half an hour. Comfortable shoes are advisable if you plan to explore the pathways to the waterfall in the park.

The park is home to free-roaming Japanese macaques that you can often spot along the trails to the waterfall. This monkey population has lived here for generations and moves freely through the forested slopes.
