Inawashiro, Lake town in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

Inawashiro extends across 394 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, bordered by Mount Bandai, Mount Adatara, and Lake Inawashiro in northern Japan.

The town established in 1889 endured significant changes after the Mount Bandai eruption in 1888, which formed multiple lakes and altered the local landscape.

Inawashiro preserves the legacy of bacteriologist Hideyo Noguchi through a memorial hall showcasing his contributions to medical research and yellow fever studies.

The Ban'etsu West Line railway and Ban-etsu Expressway provide direct transportation links to the town, connecting visitors to six elementary schools and three junior schools.

Lake Inawashiro, measuring 100 square kilometers, ranks as Japan's fourth largest lake and maintains water temperatures below 4 degrees Celsius year-round.
