Japan Kimono Museum, Fashion museum in Atamimachi, Kōriyama, Japan
The Japan Kimono Museum displays a collection of 4,600 items related to traditional Japanese clothing, showcasing various styles and patterns throughout different periods.
The museum reopened in October 2022 after the previous Japan Kimono Culture Museum closed following damage from the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
The exhibits include kimonos from the Edo Period and early Showa Era, along with dochugi jackets worn by oiran and colorful furisode garments.
Located in the Bandai-Atami Onsen resort area, the museum operates from 10 AM with an admission fee of 1,000 yen for adults.
The museum features exhibitions of traditional dyeing methods, including Makinori techniques that create specific textures using figured silk for kimono production.
