Myoko

Myoko extends across 445 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, featuring ski slopes, dense forests, and numerous hot spring facilities throughout the region.

The modern city emerged on April 1, 2005, through the consolidation of Arai city, Myōkōkōgen town, and Myōkō village into a single administrative entity.

Local residents maintain the tradition of serving somen noodles in flowing water channels, where diners catch their portions using chopsticks while seated along the stream.

The city connects to major transportation networks through the Myoko-Kogen station, served by both Echigo Tokimeki Railway and Shinano Railway lines.

Mount Myoko rises 2,454 meters above the city, creating natural hot springs with distinctive milky-white waters that flow directly from the volcanic mountain.
