Izumi, Metropolitan district in Osaka Prefecture, Japan
Izumi spans across 84.98 square kilometers of terrain, ranging from lowlands in the northwest to mountains reaching 885 meters in the south.
The region transformed from ancient Izumi Province with its provincial capital into an official city on September 1, 1956, merging several villages.
The Ikegami-Sone Historical Site presents evidence of rice cultivation practices and Yayoi period settlements from over 2,000 years ago.
The city maintains twenty public elementary schools, nine middle schools, three high schools, and Momoyama Gakuin University for education.
Izumi leads Osaka Prefecture in mandarin orange production, with exports reaching North American markets during peak harvest seasons.
