Fuji Speedway, Motorsport racing track in Oyama, Japan
Fuji Speedway is a motorsport racing track in Oyama located at the base of Mount Fuji, measuring roughly 4.5 kilometers (about 2.8 miles) in length. The track runs through hilly terrain and features 16 corners along with a long straight for high-speed competitions.
The track opened in December 1965 and was initially built as an oval in the NASCAR style. Later it was converted into a road course that began hosting Formula One races from 1976 onward.
The circuit serves as a testing ground for Japanese car makers and draws motorsport fans from across the country. On race days the grandstands fill with spectators who come to experience the atmosphere of national racing culture.
The facility offers spectator seating and viewing platforms along the track where visitors can follow the racing action. Parking areas are available and the site is well accessible on event days.
The position at the foot of the volcano brings an elevation difference of about 52 meters (around 170 feet) between the highest and lowest points on the track. This natural slope gives the course a rolling profile with changing perspectives for drivers and spectators.
