Ono, Mountain castle town in Fukui Prefecture, Japan.

The city of Ono spreads across 872 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, containing numerous temples along Teramachi Street and natural springs near the train station.

Established as a castle town during the Edo period, Ono underwent major reconstruction after a devastating fire in 1888 that destroyed much of its original structures.

The Echizen Ono Castle, constructed in 1576 by Nagachika Kanamori, stands as a central monument showcasing the architectural heritage of the feudal era.

The JR Kuzuryu Line provides rail access to Ono with trains departing every one to two hours, requiring 50 minutes from Fukui city at a cost of 650 yen.

The Oshozu spring produces water of such high quality that it was historically reserved exclusively for feudal lords and remains a primary source of drinking water.
