Nasukarasuyama

Nasukarasuyama sits at the western foot of the Yamizo Mountains and stretches along the middle reaches of the Naka River in Tochigi Prefecture. The landscape blends mountain slopes with river plains, creating varied terrain throughout the area.

The city began as a castle town during the Edo period, with Karasuyama Castle as its center, though the fortress itself originated in the Kamakura period. This castle location shaped how the settlement grew and developed over centuries.

The Yamaage Matsuri festival happens each year with traditional performances held at the Yamaage Kaikan cultural facility, where visitors can experience how locals celebrate their heritage.
