Kanagawa University, Private university in Rokkakubashi district, Yokohama, Japan
Kanagawa University is a private university in the Rokkakubashi district of Yokohama offering programs across eight academic fields. The campus spreads over several multi-story buildings with lecture halls, research rooms, and shared spaces for students.
Yoshimori Yoneda established the institution in 1928 as an evening school and gradually expanded it with technical faculties from 1939 onward. After the war, the school gained university status in 1949 with three initial departments.
Student groups train in martial arts halls and practice for relay races held between universities across the country. Sports grounds also host baseball games, a popular activity for students after lectures finish each day.
Visitors reach the campus on foot from Rokkakubashi station, a short walk through residential streets leading to the main entrance. Administrative buildings provide information about events and tours occasionally offered for guests.
The technical labs at this institution have enabled research in mechanics, electrical work, and management since the late 1930s. Some rooms preserve old measurement tools and demonstration models still used as teaching aids.
