Toda Station, railway station in Toda, Saitama prefecture, Japan
Toda Station is an elevated passenger railway station on the Saikyo Line in the city of Toda, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. The platforms sit above street level and are reached by stairs and elevators from the ground floor below.
The station opened in 1985 as part of the Saikyo Line, which connects the northern suburbs to central Tokyo. As Toda grew in the years that followed, passenger numbers at the station rose steadily alongside the city.
The station plays a short departure melody that has represented the city of Toda since 2007. Regular commuters know this tune well, and it has become a small but familiar part of daily life here.
The station has elevators alongside the stairs, making it accessible for travelers with heavy luggage or limited mobility. Mornings and early evenings are the busiest times, while midday visits tend to be much quieter.
The tracks of the Tohoku Shinkansen run right next to the station, so passengers on the platform can watch high-speed trains pass at full speed. This makes the stop a draw for anyone with an interest in rail travel.
