Yotsukaido, Residential city in Chiba Prefecture, Japan
Yotsukaido is a residential city in Chiba Prefecture situated on the Shimosa Plateau. The Kashima River flows along the eastern edge northward toward Lake Inba.
The Mononobe clan inhabited this region in ancient Japan until the Heian period. Later the Chiba clan controlled the area for several centuries through the Kamakura period.
The city maintains international connections through its sister city relationship with Livermore, California, established in April 1977, promoting regular cultural exchanges.
The central railway station connects the city to Tokyo and other towns along the Sobu Main Line. Regular train services run throughout the day between the capital and the Choshi coast.
A former Imperial Army artillery training ground operated here from 1886 until 1945. This military past shaped early town development and the road layout in the eastern part of the present city.
