Shiki, Educational town in Saitama Prefecture, Japan
Located on the eastern bank of the Arakawa River, Shiki extends over 9.05 square kilometers with a population density of 8400 persons per square kilometer.
Shiki originated as a river port during the Edo period, connecting northern Kanto to Edo before gaining city status on October 26, 1970.
The city maintains an educational profile with numerous schools, including Shiki Junior High School established in 1947, forming part of the regional learning infrastructure.
More than thirty-five percent of Shiki residents work in Tokyo, utilizing the railway system that connects the city to the metropolitan area.
Three rivers intersect within Shiki city limits, as the Yanase and Shingashi Rivers merge while flowing through the municipal territory.
