Akigase Park

Akigase Park is a large green space along the Arakawa River flood plain on the western side of Saitama, with sports facilities, native forests, and open recreational areas. The site spans the river's natural flood zone, creating varied landscapes throughout the grounds.

The former city of Urawa created this park in 1971 to address rapid urban expansion in the area. This green space was developed as a response to the need for open land amid growing development.

The park serves as a gathering place where local residents come together for seasonal events, sports, and community activities that happen throughout the year.

The park is accessible by bus from Urawa Station, with buses stopping near the main entrance at Sakurasō Park. Plan your visit during drier months to enjoy all the open areas and pathways comfortably.

The park protects a section of the natural Arakawa River flood zone, serving both to manage water flow and provide habitat for local wildlife. This dual purpose makes it function beyond just recreation for people.
