Takahama

Takahama extends across 13.11 square kilometers with a population density of 3,717 people per square kilometer, situated on Kinuura Bay at the head of Atsumi Peninsula.

The administrative evolution of Takahama began as a village in Hekikai District on October 1, 1889, followed by its elevation to town status in 1900.

The government structure follows a mayor-council system with a directly elected mayor and a city legislature comprising 16 members representing local interests.

The education system includes five elementary schools, two public junior high schools, and three high schools, serving the educational needs of local residents.

The Kinuura Bridge, opened in 1956, connects Takahama to Handa city, marking a significant infrastructure development before its promotion to city status in 1970.
