Takahama is a city in Aichi Prefecture located on Kinuura Bay at the head of the Atsumi Peninsula. The area spreads across coastal land with industrial facilities and residential neighborhoods that shape daily life here.
The settlement began in 1889 as a village in Hekikai District and was elevated to town status in 1900. The Kinuura Bridge opened in 1956 to connect the area with Handa, with city status following in 1970.
The government structure follows a mayor-council system with a directly elected mayor and a city legislature comprising 16 members representing local interests.
The city is easily reached by car via the Kinuura Bridge and by train through the Atsumi Line. Visitors will find schools, shops, and local services spread throughout different neighborhoods.
