紫峰人形美術館

This museum is a collection of hand-crafted Japanese dolls arranged in scenes showing historical events and festival celebrations. The displays feature hundreds of figures in detailed settings that recreate moments from traditional Japanese festivals.

Founded in 1981, the museum grew from the vision of master craftsman Shiho Kaunjisai, whose dolls form much of the core collection. His dedication to the craft helped establish this place as a repository of doll-making knowledge.

The displays show how major Japanese festivals like Asakusa Sanja Matsuri and Gion Matsuri are represented through elaborate puppet scenes. Visitors can observe the traditional craft techniques visible in the careful making of each figure.

The museum sits just a short walk from Yoshihama Station, making it easy to reach on foot from the rail line. Admission is free, and there is a gift shop where you can purchase souvenirs.

A walking path of about 800 meters surrounds the museum grounds and displays local craft dolls and traditional artistic methods. This outdoor route offers insight into doll-making techniques and practices beyond what is indoors.
