Ryōgon-ji, Buddhist temple in Kariya, Japan

The temple grounds contain a stone garden with fifteen rocks arranged strategically, making at least one rock invisible from any viewing position.

The site transformed from a Fujiwara clan estate in the 11th century to a Zen temple in 1450 under warlord Hosokawa Katsumoto's direction.

The temple features sliding paper doors decorated with crow patterns by artist Ikka Nagai, leading to its nickname as the Temple of Crows.

Visitors need to make advance reservations to view the decorated sliding doors, and the temple provides parking spaces for both regular and large vehicles.

The temple houses a 400-year-old camellia, a 500-year-old bo tree, and a 400-year-old crape myrtle, recognized among the Top Hundred Ancient Trees.
